Body of Lies I did not read David Ignatius' novel, but the movie would have made much more sense if the ending left us with a sense of closure. I mean, who is going to win? And yes, Russel Crowe is overrated. Leo is very, very good - as always. Locations are also very good. fb661997663 Oct 12, 2008
Body of Lies A great disappointment for the standard of Scott's work. Great cast and great effects but that's just about it. The story barely scratches the surface of a topic well-discussed or elaborated in other films. The tone fell short of being dark or inspiring in a striking way. We sighed and sighed as the film go apart in the final act. fb516653885 Oct 12, 2008
City of Ember This movie had some great production design and I liked teh actors mostly I just expected something more involved and elaborate like series of unfortunate evens mixed with harry potter and a touch of Indiana jones but alia it fell short of that with weak character development and just not there writing. Expected more from such a great Idea... fb6521421 Oct 12, 2008
Quarantine Genuinely creepy flick. The Hand-Held Camera motion sickness BS, I can do without, but it was needed in this movie, I suppose. Don't want to give away most or all major plot points, but I liked it more than 28 Days later. The plot was highly un-original, but extremely well made. fb661997663 Oct 12, 2008
Body of Lies I thought this movie was pretty good but it did seem long winded and really never had any resolution it just ended happily ever after I guess I liked the leader of jordan the most he was like an Arab Jeramey irons..lol Leo was leo and Russel was russel no surprises there actually Russel reminded me of my dad alittle if he was an CIA officeman..lol fb6521421 Oct 12, 2008
Body of Lies i think this is like some of US propaganda movies. US is great, and Muslim is bad. I'm not saying this movie takes side, but still I don't really feel comfort watching movies with terrorist vs government theme. fb688923938 Oct 12, 2008
Happy-Go-Lucky A sweet meditation on life and happiness, but don't expect "Amelie"... this one's WAY grounded in reality, despite its quirky heroine. fb5211137 Oct 12, 2008
Quarantine Eh..it was decent. I didn't really like the beginning because it took awhile to get the "scary" part to happen. Once it happened, it was like a rollercoaster ride and it was like you were there with the characters. I liked the way it was shot; just like Cloverfield, the first person point of view thats filmed by a news cameraman. I also liked how there weren't that much lighting. The darkness added to the suspence and made the infected people scary in the dark. I heard that there was no difference from Rec, the original Spanish version of the remake, that each scenes were exactly the same...which kind of pissed me off and made me wonder how would the director of Rec feel like knowing that their movie was copied. I prefer foriegn "horror" movies better because they are more original. If [Rec] comes here in the US, I would watch it in a heart beat. I still think its ok because I have never seen anything kickass or frightening in a horror movie before; too bad it had to be one that was 100% copied from a foriegn film that came before this. jNdaHoUse Oct 12, 2008
Quarantine Think Blair witch in an apartment building with crazed infected tenants... could have been scarier just came out dizzy from the hand held and unfulfilled fb6521421 Oct 12, 2008
Quarantine So being a Scary movie nut I find this had a good story line but no scary parts worthy enough to make me jump. In fact when I left the movie theater I felt alittle sick like I did after watching Cloverfeild. Quarantine is better then Cloverfeild due to the fact it isn't shake like hell. But I wish that you guys would wait until it comes to a red box then spending 10 dollars on this movie fb884205045 Oct 3, 2008
Body of Lies I'm not normally a big Leo or Crowe fan, but I really liked this movie. Leo in particular was awesome, and the story was a very convincing one. baseball25babe Oct 12, 2008
Body of Lies I really enjoyed Body of Lies. Its another spy film and yes, its slow, but if your paying attention the story, its gripping 2/3s into the picture. I like the genre. Ridley Scott makes consistantly good projects. He's an artist and Scott never disappoints on the visuals. Lots of blood and shake-cam shots to take in. The script is good. Body of Lies was convincing. Everything felt believable except for its ending which felt very "save the day" standard issue Hollywood conclusion. DiCaprio and Crowe are great together on screen. Overall, I enjoyed myself. Its not an academy picture. I do feel that Body of Lies is unfairly underrated considering this was way more interesting than American Gangster. So what if its another CIA picture... at least it was good. What do you want people? Flying dogs with machine guns? steadycamscott Oct 12, 2008
Quarantine sucks! why do they give away the ending. it was ok i guess. but the girl didnt know how to act and she annoyed me the whole movie. it reminded me of cloverfield but i even liked that one better PATTYLOKKAH18505446 Oct 12, 2008
Body of Lies Ridley Scott is one of my favorite directors, including his brother. And when I found out he was making an espionage film, I was quickly drawn to this perfect film. But what is a perfect film? A perfect film is when the movie has a great storyline, and we think we understand it, but really we don't. The ending turned a little bit into a love story about switching a life for a life, but i quickly ignored because the film was perfect. Great dialogue, funny moments to balance the seriousness and the realism. The films was simply perfect! fb88400668 Oct 12, 2008
Body of Lies I must admit going in this already had some points from me because I like Ridley a lot and I love Leo and Crowe. And they did not disappoint. I thought this was a great movie. fb8217265 Oct 12, 2008
Body of Lies Ridley Scott's work time is over,Di caprio and Crowe's performances are great, but it's just too bad to be a good thriller. fb652684886 Oct 12, 2008
Body of Lies Monahan's adaptation is fantastic. Into an intricate and urgently tense plot, he incorporates an intelligent political approach and piles of memorable dialogue. Added onto the top-notch script are Ridley Scott's sure-handed direction and an intense, electrifying performance by DiCaprio. He is, hands down, in the front ranks of the best working American actors. Much of the film's compelling and intense nature is owed to the performance of the leading man, who is backed up by a nicely honed piece of character work from Crowe. This is a gripping spy thriller that I'm sure I'll watch several more times. michaelcorleone Jan 31, 2008
Body of Lies An excellent movie chronicalling the exploits of an American CIA operative in various middle eastern nations. It is somewhat reminicent of "The Kingdom" though the storyline was better developed that that of "The Kingdom." While not entirely factual, it does shed some light on Arab culture, and does much to differentiate between the Islam, and radical Islam. It is definitly worth seeing. fb514945325 Oct 12, 2008
Body of Lies Everybody double crosses Leo in this movie, typical action/spy movie but more interestingly is the movie's portrayal of how the Americans are dealing with the war on terror. fb535896794 Oct 12, 2008
Body of Lies Crowe and DiCaprio were very good in this movie. Lots to dislike about Crowe's character but he still came across as quite charming. DiCaprio was quite convincing as a CIA Middle East Operative who finds himself with too much emphathy for his own good. If the CIA really conducts themselves like they do in this movie then the Americans have no hope in hell of winning the war on terror!! Let's hope this is pure fiction! fb537766664 Oct 11, 2008
Body of Lies What a WASTE..!!! Dgn bintang dan sutradara kelas Oscar spt Leonardo Di Caprio, Russel Crowe dan sutradara Riddley Scott (Gladiator, Black Hawk Down dan American Gangster) dan tema film ttg penyamaran CIA memburu teroris, apakah yg Anda harapkan..???? Pastinya sangat BESAR,.. :(( fb1033253161 Oct 11, 2008
Quarantine The concept of this movie seemed intersting, and i really like the original REC. But this remake is terrible. Its not scary, the virus infection is as corny as it is stupid, merely ripping off zombie like movies. And this makes the second crappy handheld camera movie of the year (Diary of the Dead was mediocre, but the cameras just didnt look realistic) Jennifer Carpenter is the worst actress i've seen in a long time, and her work here is atrocius. The shot of her being pulled away into the dark is not scary at all, well simply because of the shitty job she does at pulling it off Quarantine didnt live up to the expectations that i had to it, and i feel that it's a good contender for one of the worst movies of the year fb548200374 Oct 11, 2008
Quarantine Good, solid old freak horror movie. The use of some television actors kind of jars you our of the old 'this is really happening' cinema verite type style, but overall- yeah. It made the folks in the audience scream. Nice work. darrenhull2 Oct 11, 2008
Body of Lies Leo and Russell...they meet again. Leo, a CIA operative who is sent to Jordan. Russell, a manipulative CIA boss who teams with Leo. The movie is bout war war and war, they travel alot in middle east. At least they got the bad man with their own way. fb1008065597 Oct 11, 2008
Body of Lies BODY OF LIES has all the traits of a great film including a legendary director, two A-list stars, and one of the hottest topics of out time and our country, the Middle East. However, this CIA espionage actioner lacks any real depth or sense of overarching character journey or tranformation to really give it any real substanance. Both Crow and Dicaprio are fine with what they have, they just don't have much. I felt a similar fealing with last years AMERICAN GANGSTER, also directed by Ridley Scott. After it was all over, I didn't really understand what the point of taking the journey was in the first place. I am fearful that Scott these days is more focused on turning out half done pictures then taking the time to make them better. The film still has it's moments of beautiful shots and well choreographed action scenes, like Scott is known for, the story just remains a work in progress. This is a good first half of a movie, but lacks in creating a captivating climax or a compelling characters that the audience will believe in. lukeg4 Oct 11, 2008
Quarantine One of the better horror movies that has been released in a while. It had a "Cloverfield" style of shooting, which can cause the viewer to get a bit dizzy at times. The main characters were introduced well. I very much recommend. fb51208099 Oct 11, 2008
Quarantine It sounds like the kind of scary I don't like to watch. I also think it is about a group of people trapped inside a house or something like that. fb1208731372 Oct 11, 2008
Quarantine Incredibly tense and definitely one of the better, if not the best, horror/suspense movies I've seen in recent years. fb179200366 Oct 11, 2008
Body of Lies A though provoking movie. Leonardo plays a CIA agent on the ground in Iraq and Jordan. He speaks the language, is aware of the customs and how to treat people. Russell is his US based handler who walks over everyone to get the result he wants. Ridley Scott does his usual high standard of directing. fb642356841 Oct 11, 2008
Quarantine This isn't a bad horror movie at all, but the whole way through I just couldn't shake the idea that this was an inferior version of something better. And apparently it is an inferior version of a movie called Rec. They didn't even have the balls to adopt the infamous title. I won't come down too hard on it though. It was fun. It was suspenseful. It made me anxious and interested in what would happen next. But it still felt like a retread. And I hate to say it, but at heart, this really is nothing more than a standard zombie movie. And there have just been too many of those lately. But again, it's not bad. It gets the job done, but with more care and effort, it could have been something really special. fb33204278 Oct 11, 2008
Quarantine For some of you, Quarantine?s final half-hour is going to work so well that you?ll be telling your friends it?s one of the scariest movies you?ve seen in ages. I wish I was you; I honestly do. I just couldn?t really get into it; not in a way that put me on the edge of my seat. Horror, like comedy, is a more subjective genre than most, but I could completely see how and why someone would find Quarantine terrifying. It frustrates me that I didn?t get that nail-biting, heart-stopping thrill that some of you will get from this movie. Despite my lack of participation in all the suspenseful goings-on, I still give Quarantine a recommend. Famed horror director Stuart Gordon once said every movie should show you at least one thing you haven?t seen before. I suspect my disconnect with Quarantine is because of its lack of originality. There?s literally nothing on display here that you haven?t seen in other films. I could synopsize the film as Blair Witch Project meets 28 Days Later, and you can probably figure out the entire plot of the film on your own with just that little equation. Quarantine is a remake of the Spanish-language film Rec, and to those that moan on imdb.com about the Americanization of every foreign film, I?ve heard that Quarantine is almost exactly the same film as the original, which means that Rec isn?t some untouchable masterpiece?it?s way too derivative of way too many movies that have come before it. It?s handi-cam horror once again, not even a year removed from Cloverfield, which attempted an injection of cinema verite into a Japanese Kaiju film. This movie trumps Cloverfield for sure, but can?t entirely escape Cloverfield?s high-profile shadow. Quarantine is also a damn sight better than George A. Romero?s Diary of the Dead, which was the most disappointing post-Blair Witch attempt I?ve seen at the pseudo-doc horror flick, and a film that shares more in common with Quarantine than Cloverfield does. Diary of the Dead was supposed to be a more realistic approach to a zombie outbreak, but it was hampered by unrealistic performances, bad dialogue, and a preoccupation with gimmicky zombie deaths. Quarantine treads the same ground, but deftly sidesteps the problems that made Diary so weak. The performances are strong and feel realistic. The dialogue is natural and serves the story; nobody here is trying to say something meaningful about society?the characters just want to live. The focus here is strictly on survival, not who gets the coolest death scene. However, there?s not an original bone in Quarantine?s body. I liked Quarantine, but I didn?t love Quarantine. The good news here is that you just might. If you feel yourself gripping that arm rest in uncontrolled terror, wide-eyed in panic because of the events transpiring on screen, then God bless ya. I envy you. filmcans Sep 27, 2008
Body of Lies Best movie I've seen all year and that says alot with Dark Knight and Burn after reading. absolutely amazing, go see it markmaker27 Oct 11, 2008
Quarantine Not bad. Had a lot of aspects from Cloverfield and the 28 series (28 Days Later & 28 Weeks Later). The Zombie Survival Guide should be required reading in every high school in America. When I become a teacher I will make my students read it. fb750160601 Oct 11, 2008
Quarantine The movie I thought was going to be awesome, a hand-cam movie with zombies, turned out to be nothing but what i promised, a less than memorable movie. It had some good moments, but overall it didn't quite work, but I enjoyed most of it. TheAngryStranger Jul 23, 2008
Quarantine Filmed in the style of the Blair Witch Project, and Cloverfield. But this one was sooo much better. I jumped like mad, and I will admit that I am a scaredy cat, but I love horror movies. So if you like scary movies, see this one. Remember to bring your motion sickness pills though. thereignoffire Oct 11, 2008
Body of Lies Mediocre for a Ridley film. Just not satisfying. Not enough action. Contrived love story. Blink your eyes and you'll lose a plot point. Crowe and DeCaprio are great... but the parts don't equal the sum. If you're going to make a "iraq war" or "evil terroist" movie; make something better than this fb1174659581 Oct 11, 2008
Quarantine We saw this yesterday. I dunno what's up with telus rating on this movie, but I think telus is gay anyway. I would liek to see the original (spanish i guess). fb625787791 Oct 11, 2008
Body of Lies I think Mark Strong has stole the spotlight from both Crowe and DiCaprio. The movie could use more action though, I didn't think it was bloody enough. I also think that it lacks story in it and seemed rather short. fb769139178 Oct 11, 2008
Body of Lies The best thing about this movie is that it lacked the typical anti America propaganda that has filled most war movies of late. Beyond that this thriller lacked the thrill. The story wasn't very interesting and the action wasn't great. There were little to no surprises at all... at least as far as I remember. I did after all doze off a few times. mdrichards Oct 11, 2008
Quarantine If you liked 28 Days Later, you will probably like this. Anyone who says the camera is annoying is correct, partially, because it definitely does add to the effect. And as always, go with vodka IMO. fb24206359 Oct 11, 2008
Body of Lies yahh a lil bit confusing.. hehe.. but overall it is a good movie with good actors, good "scenario".. hehe :p fb567874454 Oct 11, 2008
Body of Lies Just another spy/terrorist movie but it's better than most. Both Crowe and diCaprio did a good job with their character. fb695399615 Oct 11, 2008
Body of Lies Not bad. A pretty serious movie that could lose you if you don't pay attention. If you want a movie relating to the war in Iraq and terrorism, then you'll like it... fb1296870165 Oct 11, 2008
Quarantine Biggest peice of crap ever. Should be labeled a comedy. everyone in the theatre was laughing.Made absolutely no sense whatsoever, even got my money refunded from manager !!!!! Trust me it's SHIT !!!! fb680895067 Oct 11, 2008
Quarantine Cloverf... I mean Quarantine is shot from a shaky handheld perspective. I can't really say the movie was scary, but there were more then a few tense parts. I was laughing way more than I should, but the movie didn't take itself seriously, so it's okay. It exists simply to scare or make you laugh at its lunacy. It was hilarious when (minor spoiler) the cameraman beat someone to death with the very camera he was shooting the footage with. As a handheld horror movie, Cloverfield is way better and Blair Witch is way more disturbing. What I really can't tell is if Jennifer Carpenter was a bad actress trying to play a good reporter or a good actress playing a bad reporter. Seriously, I think her character was formally a stripper and they left little clues in the movie. Despite the many follies, I know quite a few people may enjoy this movie, so rent it if you think it's interesting. fb514818401 Oct 11, 2008
Quarantine Great zombie movie full of suspense, running around dark areas, screaming, and plenty of what I like to call "graphically comedic terror", examples of which include zombie dogs mauling people in elevators and running the staircase gauntlet of undead people in their pjs. Oh yea, and the completely random zombie baby hidden in the attic's attic. It's a freakin funny as hell ride thru a zombie feeding frenzy. Oh and kudos to the genius of using the camera itself as a bludgeon to beat that old lady's skull in with - lens first. Beautiful. But for the love of god, what ever happened to keeping the ending a secret? Using not only the end, but the last shot of the film in every trailer? Tv spot? The poster? The freaking load screen for the website? Hell people saw that scene begin and started heading for the exits! Lose a star for that. fb144800031 Oct 1, 2008
Body of Lies Amazing movie, Wicked story line. Very interesting and very cool to show all sides of people and everyone good and bad in their own eay. The acting was great and action was very good. Very little of these movies come out, hope more like this does. fb537850306 Oct 11, 2008
Body of Lies A movie that belittles the Arabs' civilization more than it shows how the CIA operates. I'm insulted by the ignorance of Ridley Scott and the movie's screenwriters. fb583840271 Oct 11, 2008
Body of Lies another good performance by dicaprio, really like that guy since blood diamond. also, ridley scott didnt try to go over the top, which is kinda refreshing :) mark strong makes a perfect jordanian chief of intelligence. Go see it! fb687723937 Oct 11, 2008
Quarantine I rarely get scared watching horror movies, but this one scared me quite a bit. Best horror flick i've seen in a long time. airikakaitlynnn10853 Jul 28, 2008
