Lady Twilight's right this movie bombed based on the books. It was cool at first, i hadn't read the books, but currently on the third book of inheritance and I can't believe how much they butchered the books. The cannot possibly follow up, they combined the first two books, and the only things they got right were the names of the characters, not the parts, or feelings, or overall character of them! I was sooooo upset, someone needs to remake it with Paolini helping with the script, or even have them them actually read the books! They can remake it to be more like the books, but would like them to use the same actors, they were good!

It's a good move, but I read the books first and now I'm a bit disappointed. It wasn't what I expected, and they rushed it a bit too.

this movie sooo poorly displayed the book series, no one would ever have thougt the eragon movie was based on the book. this movie downgraded poloni because the director and especially the screenwriter did a very poor job.

This series by Christopher Paolini could not get more interesting than this. Eragon and Saphira are the tango of a lifetime.

ahh really not worthed if you compare it to the book.
not really illustrate the process that he should take to be a strong rider. actually it is quite good, maybe (?), but just because i have read the book, the film is not really exciting for me.

"You are stronger than you realize. Wiser than you know. What was once your life is now your legend."

Industrial Light and Magic special-effects wizard Stefen Fangmeier makes the leap into the director's chair with this coming-of-age fantasy concerning a young boy whose discovery of a mysterious dragon egg leads him on a predestined journey to become a Dragon Rider and defend his peaceful world against an evil king. Based on the best-selling novel by Christopher Paolini, Eragon tells the tale of the titular character (Ed Speleers), a humble farm boy living in the land of Alagaësia, whose life is forever changed when he discovers that he has been chosen to fight the most powerful enemy his world has ever known. Jeremy Irons, John Malkovich, and Djimon Hounsou co-star in a film produced by Davis Entertainment and adapted from the novel by screenwriters Peter Buchman, Larry Konner, and Mark Rosenthal.

When I heard a film version of one of my favourite books was coming out, I couldn't wait and eagerly waited for it's release - only to be disappointed when it was. The acting wasn't very good apart from Rachel Weisz as Saphira, the dialogue was bad, and the story was terrible. They changed too much from the book in my opinion and their order of things was appalling. A friend of mine who is also a big fan of the novels told me of a review which is actually quite suitable. I can't remember exactly what it was, but it said something along the lines of: 'It was as if the people who made the films read the first 10 pages and then made a film out of it.' I really wish they had left Paolini's book as a book instead of making it into a film. It really felt as if they were desperately trying to fit it into an 1hr 30mins time frame, and if they had expanded it to a longer film with more accurate copying from the novel, plus a better cast, it would have been a great film. It's a shame it wasn't.

If you haven't read the book maybe its an okay movie but if you have read the book well they ruined it. I being a huge fan of the book hated it. There's no way they can make a sequal following the books story line. I wish someone else would pick it up in the future and do it right. The books really could make great movies.

Very fun to watch. The shade is the scariest villain ever! And he got worse and worse. I like to do voice overs to this movie with my sister.

Disappointing. It started out being good, but then, it seems as if the rest of the movie was put on fast forward. Extremely confusing for those who haven't read the book, and aren't too sure what the movie is about before watching it.

Immensely disappointing. The first half is good enough but past that it gets messy and impossible to follow. It moves at a break-neck pace, thus preventing us from caring for any of the characters. Not a good adaptation of the book. It's not bad, but it could have been so much better.

Oh boy, another cookie cutter fantasy story. Fantasy really needs to explore real life drama events that normal movies base themselves on, instead of the typical 'save the world from the evil king' plot we've all seen a thousand times. I want a fantasy about a dwarf with cancer.

i love the book, but the movie was not so good, a great cast (apart from ed speleers...terrible actor!!! lol) but they cut out so much from the plot that it made it impossible to make any kind of sequel and of course made fans of the book dislike it

Very poor adaptation of the book. I hope somebody's eyes were stabbed out for this horrible rendition of a great book with an even better sequel.

The book is much better. They butchered the movie so bad, I have no clue how they plan to make a sequel, or if they even plan on making one. My advice to them is: just leave it. You left so much out, you destroyed the story.

It was entertaining. Although I can see why people say it stole from Lord of the Rings and Star Wars. The comparisons are almost too easy to ignore. Aside from that fact this was overall and enjoyable venture. Among the problems that I noticed was that everything seemed so sudden, maybe compressing the important parts of the book are hard for this story. And no I haven't read the book so I can't compare nor do I care at this point. Maybe when it came out 2 years ago, but now it's pretty irrelevant.

This movie was okay. I've never read the book, but there seems to be so much unrevealed from the story (although the last scene did seem to indicate some type of sequel was to come so maybe they plan on tying more ends). the dialogue also left something to be desired.

I can't quite put my finger on it... this movie seems to be oddly familiar to another sci-fi/fantasy franchise I've seen around...
Lowly farm-boy is actually the last of a dying race of warrior knights? He must join a band of Rebells to defeat an evil empire? Color coded swords? Hero is mysteriously related to the villain?
I dunno, maybe I'm crazy - but the movie itself was alright.

I really enjoyed this movie. I liked the characters and the fantasy world. The dragon was cool. It did feel like the first part of a trilogy (especially the very last scene) Lets just say I'm gonna watch the next one if they make it.

Oh another good movie! Again good plot and good cast. The main character and his cousin are hot and the traitor was hot too!

The movie Eragon was ok. I think I read the book after I watched the movie, but anyway, it was nothing like the book. The book was "ok", so I didn't care too much that the movie didn't follow exactly like the book. Becuz some parts of the book didn't add up, and the second book is even worse! Even the author said that he knew that he didn't do so well on the 2nd book. But well...I am still looking forward to the third book, its suppose to come out in September, or so. I think it has a great plot line and everything, but the magic is kinda disturbing to me, but yeah, thats just my opinion mostly.

I understand how it can be disappointing to read a good book and then watch a movie based on the book that just dosen't measure up. I have had this same experience many times. Just have to remind your self that it's another persons artistic view of the story and not the arthors...therefore it is bound to be a bit different. I, myself, did not know of the books before I saw Eragon. I really enjoyed the movie so I'll be looking for the books now.

    Keep Holding On
    avril lavigne (OST)

    You're not alone
    Together we stand
I'll be by your side, you know

    I'll take your hand
    When it gets cold
And it feels like the end
    There's no place to go
You know I won't give in
    No I won't give in

    Keep holding on
'Cause you know we'll make it

    through, we'll make it through
    Just stay strong
'Cause you know I'm here for

    you, I'm here for you
    There's nothing you could say
    Nothing you could do
There's no other way when it

    comes to the truth
    So keep holding on
'Cause you know we'll make it

    through, we'll make it through

    So far away
    I wish you were here
    Before it's too late, this

    could all disappear
    Before the doors close
And it comes to an end
With you by my side I will

    fight and defend
    I'll fight and defend
    Yeah, yeah

Hear me when I say, when I

    say I believe
    Nothing's gonna change,

    nothing's gonna change destiny
    Whatever's meant to be will

    work out perfectly
    Yeah, yeah, yeah, y
