There are a lot of reasons to dislike this movie. It's historically inaccurate. People and cultures separated by thousands of years and thousands of miles are found interacting with one another. The characters travel impossible distances on foot. The plot at best can be described as formulaic, and it bears a striking resemblance to several other movies including Apocalypto, The Ten Commandments and Stargate. If you are willing to suspend your disbelief though, and are looking for pure entertainment and not a history lesson, this film is very visually pleasing and has several intense action scenes to enjoy. I also commend the filmmakers for choosing an original setting. Pre-history is not often visited locale in Hollywood, even though it seems the writers for this film were just guessing what might have happened instead of doing any research.

Roland Emmerich's latest blockbuster offering 10,000 BC tells the age old tale of a young tribesman D'Leh who crosses mountains to rescue his ladylove Evolet from the enemies.

I thought it was terrible. Sure, some of the prehistoric animals looked fine, but that was about it. Talk about bloopers - the actors don't look prehistoric, the make-up was bad (who had perfect white teeth in 10,000 BC?) What's with the almost-dreadlocks? And the mammoths - weren't they supposed to belong to the Ice Age, and Ice Age only? What are they doing dragging huge blocks in the middle of a desert? Even the plot is so outdated and lame.

The only reason I'm giving this a two is because the Sabertooth looked really awesome. Even though it just came out from nowhere, at least they made something out of this huge epic pile of garbage.

Total waste of money. Compared to Apocalypto - one of the best epics I've seen so far - this movie is nothing.

The lack of interesting visuals and Steven Strait's laughable dialogue render 10,000 B.C. as nothing more than one of Roland Emmerich's patented disasters.

Did you know cavemen and wooly mammoths helped build the pyramids?!!? LMAOOOO. So-so special effects highlight this tale of different tribes banding together to take on mighty Egypt. Less action then the trailers promised. I can suspend my disbelief if the movie is entertaining enough. This 1 is not but my 12 year old son loved it so at least that is something.

It was Boring and Apocalypto kinda film.. It would have been better but there were so many things which you could tell that this movie was not a true story..

it was not the worst film i have ever seen but it is dissapointing.. Loved the Graphics..

Bad. Real bad. OMFG was this movie bad. Did I mention this movie was bad? And boring. Bad and boring, not a good combo. I think this movie was designed to feel epic, but the only thing it did was epicly suck. Simple formula for watching this movie:

Actual movie runtime x 8 = How long this movie feels.

Probably no film will best this at 2008's worst - an utter travesty on all fronts. The character of 'Old Mother' is especially ridiculous.

This movie doesn't even deserve one star. I didn't expect it to be good - but it wasn't even crappy movie funny. The actors speak in stereotypical native American accents (which I suppose is kinda funny) and call snow white rain. White rain? If they have a freaking word for rain you think they'd have one for snow.

I didn't know but just a couple of the actors in this film but it was pretty good. I was surprised that it was as good as it was even though it wasn't anything great. The story was well put together and the film moved along and didn't feel like it was taking forever to end. It's worth a watch.

I love the era, but was nothing new. Seemed like a rip off of plots from many past movies. Great effects though.

Not a terrible movie. Just a little over the top. Lots of little things that dont make sense. you have to just not think about them pretty much to enjoy the film how they wanted you to. But over all it was ok~ would be best in theaters money aside. on little screen i think this experience would have much less value.

If memory serves the original 10,000 BC, with Raquel Welch and Charlton Heston (?) was more about cavemen fending off dinosaurs. This update features a relatively advanced civilization and the pre-historic critters are more like giant bird mutants and overgrown elephants. It's no "Apocalyto" but fairly entertaining nonetheless. Lots of loud noises and a halfway decent plot line. Worth renting but personally I can see no reason to own it.

Everything is a bit second rate in this one. The plot is a bit flat and the gloss is there in place of much of the historic accuracy, you feel. Not great, but not awful. Watchable.

I liked it, its not epic but very enjoyable all the same. I like the way it isnt pretencious, its like one of those ancient fairy tales, enjoyable, absorbing, with out being cutting edge literacy (or in this case, film making).

If you enjoy the action, fantasy type adventure movies then you'll enjoy this as i did, if you dont then you may not, but its a good story and a watchable movie, so its worth a go.

Dear God...where do I begin? Roland Emmerich has always been a dependable filmmaker when it came to creating enjoyable B-movies. Best known for directing "Indenpendance Day", Emmerich could deliver epic visuals while spinning a story that was fun, if sometimes unoriginal. Films like "Stargate", "The Day After Tomorrow", and even "Godzilla" were fun, fast moving, and by and large, empty headed entertainment. But they were just that...entertaining. Even an early film of his that went direct to video called "Moon 44" was an atmospheric Blade Runner-ish scifi movie that still stands as one of the best direct to video movies I've seen. Why go in to such detail about his other movies? Because there is NONE of those traits in this movie. It's long, boring, poorly written, directed, and HORRIBLY acted. Steven Strait...have a backup plan to acting! Even the sight of the GORGEOUS Camilla Belle in little more than loincloth can keep the interest level up in this movie. Laughingly bad narration by Omar Sharif doesn't help any. Every line of dialogue in this movie is spoken as if the fate of the world hangs in the balance. But what's at stake here? What's the story? Is there one? I couldn't tell because I kept dozing off. The movie isn't even interesting visually. The special effects range from pretty good to REALLY bad. There's a stampede scene in this movie that is even worse than the one in King Kong. It just screams blue screen. The movie can't even deliver on the poster art. Our "hero" never fights a sabertooth tiger. He frees is from a pit that he himself becomes trapped in, and the tiger returns the favor by saving him from an enemy tribe. Believable right? That's the last we see of the sabertooth. We do get lots of walking wooly mammoths though! Snore. The movie is just bad on all fronts, and one of the absolute worst movies of the year.

"A good man draws a circle around himself and cares for those within. His woman, his children. Other men draw a larger circle and bring within their brothers and sisters. But some men have a great destiny. They must draw around themselves a circle that includes many, many more. Your father was one of those men. You must decide for yourself whether you are, as well. "

Aside from the obvious historical flaws in the film, all it is, is some mindless entertainment.
Reviews are harsh, and the film has been beaten with negative reviews based purely upon the fact that the film is Historically incorrect.
    Here are a few examples:
    - Mammoths did not help to build pyramids.
    - English language didnt surface until around 500 AD.
    - An actual concept of civilisation didnt exsist until 7,000 after the setting of the film.
    (just a few examples)
While it was hard to neglect these inaccuracies, it only affected the film in a small way. For the most part its a love story /action film set to a historic background.
If you're looking for a film to show in history class, then you've definitely got the wrong film. But as far as entertainment goes, theres some to be found.

Okay you know what? I refuse to believe anyone thought this was a good movie, even after seeing some 4 and 5 star ratings on here. I don't hate it just because of its historical inaccuracy. I hate it because it is AWFUL! And don't try telling someone if they take it for what it is (entertainment)it will be good. Because IT IS NOT GOOD even taken on that level! It's BORING if you look at it like that. This is by far the worst movie of 2008. I can't trust your taste in movies if you like this. I will tell you all this...if you thought this was a good movie...WATCH MORE MOVIES!!!

Wow, was this a waste of time, energy and money. I do rely on movies to have a degree of historical accuracy - what bothers me is that some people will take this as truth.

Besides the acting, which was astonishingly bad.

And the poster had nothing to do with anything.

and the two leads seemed awfully clean and beautiful for such rough times.

and... well, I could go on forever like this. But mostly it was just plain BAD.

raptor birds surviving the ice age?Lady give your head a shake. This movie takes place in the ice age mountins,The tropical jungle,& in Egypt. What?near cave people with english accents?Oh & culturally diverse people..all in the same region,& villains that strangley resemble Arabs (US War on terror)I can forgive historic inaccuracies if the plot were more original, but I can't forgive plagerism.Too many obvious scenes from other movies: The Ten commandments,300, Clan of the Cave bear, Jurasic Park,Appocalypto,to name just a few. This movie took me to a different place, & that place was the Gong show. ANYONE WHO HASN'T VIEW THIS MOVIE:DON'T.Save your money for a better movie.Sure go on leave history to the professors and the thinking public,& leave cheezy movies like this shiny, yet empty attenmpt at a blockbuster epic to the air heads.I can do slap stick,I can handle cheeze just not in this saturation. These up & comers eh?..up & comers as guest stars on celeb squares,& Surreal Life
